She was sitting in a garden with ancient Greek statues and dying trees with colorful autumn leaves surrounding her. She could see her warm breath clashing with the cold weather of Rexburg, Idaho. There was a large weeping willow tree to her right, and to her left was a small path that leads to a hidden gazebo. In front of her was a fountain with blue water; the sound of it soothed her. Behind her was a stone wall with tangling vines reaching for the top. A statue of Aphrodite at the center, with all sorts of flowers surrounding the goddess.
Every so often, another student would pass by and she would hope that one of the attractive men would pause and wonder why she was sitting all alone in a garden. Maybe one of them would stop and pay some attention to her. Perhaps even profess his love for her.
She rolled her eyes and smiled at her silliness.
She knew she was content with the company of the statues; for now at least.
Talking one last deep breath of the crisp fresh air, she put her things way and prepared to leave her safe haven to rejoin the real world.
She turned and bowed to Aphrodite, bidding her adieu; something she always did in gratitude of the goddess of love allowing her to occupy her lovely garden for a short while.
The girl pranced down the steps as she put her earbuds in, the soft melody of an autumn playlist putting her at ease.
As she passes a boy on his bike, she smiles but he pays no mind to her.
She misses her garden already.
